Cafe Especial in Cologne

Nice restaurant, nice service and good food. You can also sit outside, but then you have to be aware that you are sitting on a busy main traffic artery. Even if the sidewalk is quite spacious here, you have to speak out against the traffic noise. But it can be faded in quite well, at least for me.

Good atmosphere, good decoration, great staff, not too pushy when it comes to further orders. What more do you want. ?

Food is too spicy and the service gives incorrect statements about the spiciness of the food. My order was inedible because hot tomatoes (!) Were added everywhere. The cellar doesn't seem to care that food doesn't taste good. I don't recommend it for anyone who is more sensitive to sharpness. Definitely won't go out to eat here again.

Delicious mexican food. They serve chips w/salsa before you order. The chips are really tasty. Beans and rice real mexican. They have carajillo as well, which isnt easy to find around. I didn't try the tequila but they have banderita (3 little glasses, one w/tequila, sangrita or tomate juica and another w/lime juice). Really good place and good service.

Very good. Somewhat upscale in price but very tasty and yet quite large portions. Immediate proximity to the train station.

If you have never eaten delicious Mexican, or if you have always wanted to eat the "Mexican" food as you see it in American films, you can be full here and find the food acceptable. Everyone else, on the other hand, will consider the unsorted, tasteless pile that is served to be an impertinence and feel ripped off by the appearance of the restaurant.

The food is delicious and the waitresses are always friendly! In my opinion (depending on what you order) the portion is a bit small for the price. It would be nice if, for example, you could have a small green salad with a burrito.

Really tasty. I wouldn't eat meat there anymore because it's not of high quality. But that's not surprising with the prices. However, cocktails are very tasty and really very friendly there!

Large selection of food and drinks. Our food was impeccable and very, very tasty. Service and wait staff very friendly and attentive. I can only warmly recommend the place.

Very over priced (10-20€ plates) for average fastfood with slow service. Drinks are ok. (but also overpriced)

Needless to say, a remarkable museum. It much bigger than what you'd think because there's a lot on the first floor also.

Good food. But unfortunately they give you the wrong change, for me was 10 Euros less.

It is a place where you can relax and what costs extra compensates for the environment and the way you are served. So I can say that I felt good there and I recommend it as a place to relax

I find it simply too expensive in terms of price. If you order something with meat, you have to expect around 18.50, the portion is not even large, so you can eat it for two. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant.

A really pleasant atmosphere inside, very nice and friendly and quick service. Eating in generous portions and great taste, just a great culinary experience. It's a shame, but that's the way it is: the outside dining on the traffic road.

The food and service are great. The price is also fine, some of the dishes can be shared by two people. Even if it is Mexican they have amazing spare ribs. It has also a nice menu for lunch (Monday-Friday), which offers a fair price.

We were there at 5 p.m. without a reservation for two and it had to be clarified between several employees whether we would still get a table in order to have something to eat there. The restaurant was almost empty ... Service was friendly and our order was quickly taken and brought to the table. Prices are quite expensive. No main course under € 14.50. Then mostly without meat. Portions weren't really big either. The ordered burrito was delicious, the side dish, especially the rice, was very dry. Tastes okay but not anymore either. Those who are on the fast transit can go there to eat. Otherwise, take some distance in your hand and go to another Mexican restaurant.

Great atmosphere, quick service and delicious food and cocktails! Friendly staff and plenty of tables but gets quite busy so may need to book, we got lucky however as there was only two of us to seat, but otherwise the place was packed!

We walked into Cafe Especial without booking on a very busy Saturday night, the waitress said that unfortunately they were fully booked (which was understandable!), so we reserved a table for another night....however she moved some things around and got us a table there and then! We are so glad she did, the food was great, easily the best Mexican we have ever had! Service was quick for both food and drinks and the place has a nice lively atmosphere. We will definitely be visiting again! Highly recommended!!

The food is amazingly good and authentic. I'd recommend booking a table as this restaurant is very busy in the evenings. The Fajitas are out of this world, I wasn't expecting this good of a taste, zingy and very tender. Guac and Sour Cream were tasty aswell. Only downside, the cocktails. We ordered some Mojitos and they were all very short of liquor. For 9€ I expected something better. But the food was very good and quickly served. Waiters were nice and quick, had to wave some of the down but the restaurant was buzzing at that time. I'm coming back for sure.

We had to wait 60 minutes for our orders with a table of five. Pretty much everything is prepared so there's no legitimate reason why it'd take that long even on busy days.

It's all about the California Taco ? with Beef!

Amazing place. Food, drinks, decoration, everything in even better than many nice restaurants in Mexico.

Great food; but terrible place for groups. Several missed orders, and long delays in getting food. Some even had their plates taken away after they had finished their food, 20 minutes before the last people in a 15-people group had gotten their food.
